Elizabeth Neumann serves as the Assistant Secretary for Threat Prevention and Security Policy in the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Strategy, Policy and Plans. She oversees two operational programs, the Visa Waiver Program and the REAL ID program. She is also responsible for the Department's coordination of screening and vetting, terrorism prevention, countering transnational criminals and other emerging threats. Prior the founding of DHS, Elizabeth Neumann served on the Homeland Security Council at the White House. While at the White House she also assisted in tracking terror threats, developing domestic terror prevention and mitigation programs, and the implementation of the information sharing policies after 9/11. She also worked to help develop reporting protocols for suspicious activity and community based models for countering extremism.
