Finding the face of evil: One of the nation's premiere profilers, Hinman, 50, aids police investigating murders and sexual assualts by assessing crime scene behavior and constructing profiles of the perpetrators. For the past decade, she ran the profiling unit at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, where her team hunted such infamous serial killers as Aileen Wuornos and Danny Rolling, the so-called Gainesville murderer. She recently left that position but continues to consult with police departments across the nation.
Helping families heal: "The victims have always been important to me," she says. "It's a great gift to be able tell their families, 'We caught the person who did this to your loved one.'"
Behind the scenes: Hinman is working on Body of Evidence, a weekly series for Court TV that begins airing next month. "It shows what really happens in an investigation," she says. "We're most effective in cases where the offender spends time with the victim -- where there's behavior we can interpret."
