Master Chief Nancy Lynne Seely is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and enlisted in the United States Coast Guard Reserve in the Direct Petty Officer Program in 1983 in San Antonio, Texas. She was assigned to Reserve Unit San Antonio as the Assistant to the Training Officer and as a reserve recruiter. After moving to Michigan, she became the Leading Administrative Petty Officer and later served as the Administrative Officer for Reserve Unit Portage in Hancock, Michigan. She then served as the Reserve Command Enlisted Advisor for Group Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and was later appointed the Reserve Command Master Chief for Sector Sault Ste. Marie.
Master Chief Seely is a graduate of the Coast Guard Reserve Chief Petty Officer's Academy, Class XXIII, and the Senior Enlisted Leadership Course. She was selected to attend the Reserve Components National Security Course held at the National Defense University in Washington, DC and was a participant in the USCG Evergreen III Project Workshop. Master Chief Seely holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Master of Arts Degree in European History from the University of Delaware. She is currently employed by Michigan Technological University, Houghton, Michigan. She is married to Bruce Seely of Chicago, Illinois.
