Major General Michelle Johnson has been selected as the next superintendent of the Air Force Academy. She will be the first woman to hold this job.
MG Johnson is currently NATO's deputy chief of stat for operations and intelligence. She has a long history with the Academy; she graduated from it in 1981, where she became the first female cadet wing commander.
She was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship and attended Oxford University where she earned her M.A in politics and economics. She was also an assistant professor of political science and instructor pilot from 1989-1992. Additionally, she served as the Air Force aide to the President and the Deputy Director for Information and Cyberspace Polciy on the Joint Staff.
Prior to her appointment to the Air Force Academy, MG Johnson served as the Director, Strategy, Policy, Programs, and Logistics, U.S. Transportation Command at Scott Air Force Base.
