General Janet Wolfenbarger was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1980 upon graduation from the Air Force Academy. She was a member of the first class of female cadets.
She is the first female four star general in the Air Force, receiving her fourth star on June 5, 2012. She currently serves as Commander, Air Force material Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
This command manages $60 billion annually and employees 80,000 people in research, development, test and evaluation, while providing support to procure and sustain Air Force Weapons systems.
Prior to this position, General Wolfenbarger was the Military Deputy, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, the Pentagon, Washington DC.
General Wolfenbarger holds a BS in Engineering Sciences from U.S. Air Force Academy and a MS in aeronautics and astronautics from MIT.
